Adam is the principal of the firm and graduated with honours from Southern Cross University School of Law & Justice with a Bachelor of Laws. His early years were spent living on the Far North Coast of NSW and, after completing his high schooling in Brisbane and Sydney, he trained as a chef operating restaurants and catering businesses in Sydney before working as the Executive Chef at a 5 star hotel in China. In 2002 Adam merged his extensive first hand small business experience with a law career when he returned with his family to live in the Northern Rivers.
Lauren is Senior Associate with BvK and graduated from Southern Cross University School of Law & Justice with a Bachelor of Laws. Lauren originally hails from the countryside in South West New South Wales, however having lived in the Northern Rivers since 2002, she could perhaps now be called a committed local. Apart from a year spent working and living in the UK, and some time-out for several other overseas travelling stints over the years, Lauren has been with BvK since the start of her career in 2006. Lauren specialises in Commercial Agreements, Wills and Estates and all variations of Conveyancing Matters.
Caitlin has been working in the legal industry since she was 21 years old. After graduating from Southern Cross University she joined BVK to do her Practical Legal Training and has now been a solicitor with the firm since 2020. She does a mix of Conveyancing, Leasing, Wills and Estates and Civil Litigation.
Caitlin grew up in Lismore and still lives there. Her family have had businesses in the region for over 50 years. In her spare time Caitlin enjoys being with with her husband and young son.
Sue works part-time between the family firms of BVK Solicitors Attorneys, van Kempen & Associates and Peter A Smith Law Practice, during which time she plays the role of Office & HR Manager, Graphic & Web Designer and Marketing & Advertising person. During her working life Sue has fulfilled admin and creative roles in many large and small companies in Australia, the UK, and Hungary. She returned to Australia in 2013, after living for 15 years in Budapest, where she gained further experience with international businesses and became fluent in Hungarian.
Having worked with Adam in restaurants and catering, decades before, she was delighted when he asked her would she join the firm in 2013.
